New Green Bicycle Path Established in Haifa Area
New green bicycle path established in Haifa suburb of Kiryat Motzkin, part of national program promoting green transportation in Israel.
Jerusalem, 6 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Kiryat Motzkin, a suburb of Haifa, is going green with the city’s first dedicated bicycle path. It is about a kilometer long, is the first link in the planned urban network, and will pass near residential, educational, recreational and employment areas. As part of the work, lighting, landscaping, paving and street furniture were also carried out, ensuring a safe and pleasant cycling experience for residents.
The inauguration of the new trail in the Railway Park marked the beginning of a network of urban bicycle paths with a total length of approximately 7 kilometers, as part of a national program by the Ministry of Transportation to promote green and healthy transportation throughout the Haifa metropolis.
The project is being promoted as part of the Ministry’s Maiytz (Hebrew acronym for Terminals, Bicycles, and Priority Routes) program throughout the country. The program emphasizes green and innovative urban transportation infrastructure, with the aim of reducing the use of private vehicles, reducing road congestion, and improving air quality and life in cities.
